VACs
As part of the Visual Aids for the Classroom (VAC) modules, I developed a series of engaging, curriculum-aligned resources to support student learning across painting, printmaking, and design. Each VAC project was designed to bridge classroom content with contemporary visual culture and accessible, hands-on processes.
For the painting VAC, I created resources inspired by Andy Warhol: Three Times Out at the Hugh Lane Gallery in Dublin. This resource focused on Pop Art, colour theory, and repetition, allowing students to explore Warhol’s techniques and themes through their own contemporary lens. It encouraged bold visual language and self-expression, drawing connections between historical movements and students' personal iconography.
The printmaking VAC centred on the use of familiar, everyday images and tetra pak printmaking—an environmentally conscious technique that offered both accessibility and innovation. This module encouraged students to explore texture, layering, and mark-making while reimagining disposable materials as tools for creative expression.
The design VAC guided students through the process of creating original logotypes, introducing them to the fundamentals of branding, typography, and visual communication. This resource promoted iterative design thinking and gave students insight into applied art practices with real-world relevance.
Each module was supported by differentiated lesson plans, step-by-step visual instructions, student exemplars, and clear learning outcomes—ensuring that the resources were adaptable across ability levels and year groups while remaining grounded in contemporary art pedagogy.
